Introducing Our New FoodCorps Service Members!

We're thrilled to introduce the two newest members of the ChicopeeFRESH team, Molly Burke and Kelly Zimmerhanzel. Keep an eye out for their bright green shirts in the school garden, cafeteria, classroom, and community!

Meet Kelly!

Hi, I'm Kelly Zimmerhanzel. I just graduated from Wellesley College with a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies and a minor in Economics. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where my parents taught my sisters and me the importance of homegrown foods and home-cooked meals. I've always been passionate about cooking and eating (especially eating). At Wellesley, I began to explore the environmental and social implications of food production through both my coursework and my participation in Slow Food and the Real Food Challenge. I love hiking, photography, and traveling, especially if it means trying new foods.

Meet Molly!

Hi! My name is Molly and I am a first-year FoodCorps service member.  I grew up in Georgetown, Texas and graduated with a BSA in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin. Since college, I’ve tried out a bunch of different jobs to try to find my passion. I’ve written as a journalist, done biomedical research, studied for the LSAT, and was even a professional smoothie chef! But my favorite was teaching high school youth about nutrition, sustainable agriculture, and professional development on an East Austin farm called Urban Roots. I applied to FoodCorps so I could continue to spread my knowledge about healthy eating and love for the environment through fun lessons. I love to cook foods from different countries, travel, and learn new languages (actualmente estoy aprendiendo español). As a brand new Massachusetts resident, I’m looking forward to learning the northeastern lifestyle and checking out events like the Big E, going apple picking, and of course, destroying the competition in snowball fights.
