meet our amazing Cook managers!
Each of our school kitchens is run by a passionate and talented Cook Manager. This position is essential to ensuring that Chicopee students have access to local, nutritious foods every day. In order to provide the best quality meals for our students, it's crucial that our cooks stay just as sharp as their chef knives. We therefore strive to offer a range of professional development opportunities for our staff. Over the past year, we've brought in two experts to help us develop new menu items and train our cooks to prepare them. The first, Chef Sam Icklan, has focused on developing creative options for our high school students, such as pho noodle soup and Korean pork tacos. The second, UMass Pastry Chef and Bakeshop Manager, Simon Stevenson, has trained our cooks to make farm fresh muffins that we're now serving frequently for Breakfast in the Classroom.
